Wildflower Schemes

I am always keen to introduce wildflower planting in to my design and more and more clients are now requesting this.

You do not need acres of ground in order to have a wildflower area. Big or small they are magnets for all sorts of wildlife and provide colour and interest for much of the year, especially if they are underplanted with spring flowering bulbs

Wildflower Turf

Wildflower turf is one of the best way to create a stunning wildflower area. It is easy to install, establishes very quickly and once established is low maintenance, requiring just one cut per year.

The turf is made up of a minimum of 75% UK native, perennial, wildflowers plus a few non competitive native grasses. It is also shade and drought tolerant so can be used in a variety of locations.

A special roof turf is also available for green roof schemes too.

The Facts

It is a sad fact that since the Second World War the UK has lost 97% of its natural grasslands. Yet wildflower environments are crucially important in supporting bees and other pollinating insects. Birds in turn gain from the abundance of food offered by these areas both in terms of cover and seeds and insects for food.

Including a wildflower area in your garden will not only increase its biodiversity but will also bring natural beauty and colour, without high maintenance

Wotton Swimming Pool Project

Turning a small piece of ugly waste ground in front of the local community swimming pool in to a mini meadow of colour and beauty that benefited both people and wildlife.

Funded by Wotton-under-Edge Town Council, this transformation has received so many positive comments. Lifting people’s spirits through the difficult times of 2020 and showing what can be done with wildflowers even in a small space.

Huge thanks to Wotton Area Climate Action Network for helping prepare the site and lay the turf
