Creative Beautiful Bespoke

Professional Landscape & Garden Design for Gloucestershire, The Cotswolds, Wiltshire & South Gloucestershire

This garden originally had a very dated layout of various garden elements such as a pond and raised borders, but they had not been thought out, so did nothing for the feel or function of the garden and lacked good design bones. There was also no understorey of planting just a few mature shrubs dotted about and bare earth everywhere. A number of the trees had been planted so close together that they were almost growing out of the same hole and had created a tangles tree canopy that made the garden extremely gloomy

The majority of the garden area was on a lower level to the house and so views of any planting from the main windows when seated was limited.

My clients were keen to have a garden that was filled with plants and had a cottage garden feel, but they were also keen to have a number of seating options and all areas of the garden needed to be easily accessible. The design also had to include a curved path and planting borders

The design I created, provided a layered and textured feel by raising up the planting borders nearer to the house so they were on a level with the existing paved seating area next to the house. A second circular seating area with small arbour was added in the lower level to provide a different seating location with an interesting view across the garden to the house.

A new path and steps were included, some of the trees were removed to let in light and allow the other trees to flourish. an informal stepping stone path was included to proved an alternative route through the planting. Screening was included around the garage.
